Through the mist as it faded, the village beyond was revealed. By the lakeside of a massive still lake. The mountains spanned in the distance, snowy white-capped peaks ever a reminder of the freezing world above to the north.
Men and women and children were in the streets with curious looks on their faces at the strange new guests as they passed through the small village gate that lead inside. But soon there were smiles on their faces as they came closer to greet the newcomers with words and waves.
You find yourself at the small garden gate of a small hovel with a garden. There's a small stout figure on the porch playing with some wooden carved horses.
Within the house was a small fireplace and a long table.
”I knew there was something off about him. Something just doesn’t settle with me when I see him”
Cherusci now has a new building
Fortified Tower:
-Comes with a free room (Stables)
-Armory Add on
-Escape route Add on (Leads outside)
Cherusci now has access to a Calvary Battalion and more Advanced Weapons.
”Wiltrud, are you there? I can’t seem to find you, can you give ,e some directions about where you are? I have a pendent”
@Fox/Wilt/[pending]/Wu/Lae
“Siegfried wanted to ask us some questions I reckon also”Teleportation circle has been set up and travel between this tribe and the base is free.
"My daughter!" a woman cried as he saw a face amongst the bodies of the fallen. "My daugther!"
Peter would sense the presence of a servant nearby in the village. Maybe it could even sense him as well?
@ArbyOrNotToBeThe tunnel to Kaguya's temple is established in the center of town square in a pathway under a oaken bark tree.
(edited)
You've all gotten the dinner invitation, and each for your own reasons have decided to accept it. The teleportation point brings out just to the outskirts of the village.
Darkness already creeps up in the forest. Pillars of bark and wood shoot up in the sky above, looking like an army of sentinels within the mist. Figures clutching lanterns can be seen just off the path. Patrols on foot or horseback. On the winding path in front of you, is a small fort that the road passes through of some sort, made of wooden barricades and earthen embankments. Along the barricades are ballistas pointed into the forest on all sides manned by Cherusci spearmasters.
Beyond that small fort you can see suggestions of the village itself.
A mist and heavy evening fog envelopes the village as the suggestions of the night begin to fall. Lights and torches are lit within homes to drive the dark away. The Cherusci not on guard duty begins to return from a tiring day’s work back to their homes and families. There are many bursts of laughter and chatter. Warmth in the coldness of this singularity. A light against the endless dark winter.
(edited)Gertrude's house sits near the center of town. A small hovel with a garden and sticks for fencing to keep the animals out. Red door just like the guard said. A garden that grows a variety of fruits and vegetables dutifully kept. Upon what might be called a porch before the door a man in a gray tunic was sitting at the edge. His raven black hair is messy and there are black bags that are showing under his eyes despite best efforts to keep them hidden.
He’s absently carving away a block of wood with a chisel in an attempt to create a figure of some sort. But its hard working with only his right arm.

1d20 (12) + 2 + 1 + 3 + 1d4 (4) = 22
34 total. With the help of all three of them, Strauss managed to create a pretty good woodwork of a horse.
Inside was a room with a great bonfire in the middle and benches to the side. On a table had been enough bowls of fish soup for everyone.
The soup was creamy and pretty good. It certainly had a way of playing on the tongue. I would describe it more if I was a food critic but I think grilled cheese is the height of food so i'm clearly not one.
@Thicc|Fie/Ali/Ayu/Miyu/Nag/MelAbove Mayfield you would see the quiet town putter away long after the sun had set. The moon poked through the sky, pillars of moonlight cascading down onto the dark lake. It seems awfully quiet. A bit too quiet really.
Through the dark pine woods mayfield would sweep, invisible in the dark and all that hooted and creaked in the night. It was for that sole reason he saw them before they saw him. A pair of ince wolves, disguised brilliantly in the undergrowth at the edge of the Cherusci perimeter. They weren't attacking or really doing anything at all. Just hiding and not even in a position to ambush.
They were just there.
Mayfield would be able to tell there were gaints as well among the wolves. They were smaller and more stout then the ones he had seen before but clearly a bit more clever given the fact they had made large cloaks out of the local vegitation to help blend themselves in. Like hunters they just laid there doing nothing but watch. He could guess there were no less then three or maybe even four dozen wolfs that he could see in this area alone and a five hunter giants alone.
Saber. Get ready for anything. Prioritize the protection of the people. Don't tell anyone yet. Just go outside and prepare out the roof and watch from all sides. Do you got it? Do not show any suspicion, just prepare for anything.
He said as he watched the wolves. He then continued to look at them, he followed their movements."Understood. I will keep a keen eye.
"
With that Okita excused herself, heading outside to keep watch on the roof. The village was dark with the windows lit. Very few were inside. For a moment as she climbed onto the roof Okita would be able to glance the defences all over the village. There was a battery of ballistas by the lakeside in case the giants decided to use the boats they had stolen, there were forts in the forest, and patrols in between that made sure nothing slip by.
For now all quiet on the western front.
@sumanaiJust as sudden and shocking as a stab to the back Okita would hear a scream coming from the lakeside.
Then yells and shouts of panic. The great sound of water erupting. In seconds she could see the suggestions of flames lick the rooftop of the lakesides storehouses and markets. She could catch distant glimpses of figures running through the street from something.
The clash of steel echoed through the streets.
Then a great and loud bellowing roar that split the night. Commanding. Authoritative. Bone-shaking.
(edited)Mayfield would see the wolves and giants under him suddenly become active at the roar he heard and began to move forward towards the unsuspecting patrol in front of them and the fort not too far away...
(edited)Okita would see a dark large object fly through the sky from the docks that crushed a neighboring house and its occupants barely 60 feet to the right. Before it hit she caught the glimpse of a longboat covered in moss and with torn sails.
A loud crash resounded through the Gertude Household.
By this time the scared civilians fleeing from the docks and spreading panic through the Cherusic. They were bloody, many dragging their injured with them, and quite a few were badly burned by the fires that were now raging through the docks.
"They're here!" they shouted. "Oh Gods the Ballistas didn't do anything."
"We didn't even see them!"
Man when I try reason with people they never listen. Ah whatever, at least my gut feeling to come here was right. I would have delt like shit if this had happened and I wasn't here to help them.
He soon caught up to Okita and Strauss. You can already see the docks. Fire has broken all over and smoke smothers everything. Bodies are strewn all over and houses have been demolished as if some great being had crushed them with ease.
Almost everyone has fled and this place is silent save the crackle of the flames.
It's so good to be back, Ain't it Chunchunmaru?
He let okita do her thing, she was a manslayer after all.Okita would be able to sense many of Cherusci lives within a 6 miles radius but within at least this local area there was a single life just a block over in the burning docks. The rest were either dead or had fled But she could sense it was rapidly fading.
There was also other presences close by but she couldn't sense how many or where they were. Just that they were there.
@sumanaiThe four party members would turn the corner to the lakeside where they would see a warrior with a silver helm crawling on the burning street, his guts split open and trailing behind him.
"H-h-help me..." he gasped.
Behind him was a massive figure covered by the smoke that now trod forwards to finish its prey, every step shaking the ground.

〇You would see another gaint rise from the water onto the dockyards but this one was strange.
Was that a boat on its head?
It ripped off the boat and flung it into the town center, now lusting for the nearest blood it could see,
For the captain lying on the ground the bleeding stopped as he fell unconscious from the stress and exhaustion.
Suddenly as Strauss moved to save his Captain while the two occupied the stone giant and he believed it to be safe, he was shock to see turn around the corner was another giant, wielding a massive spear.
The gaint wouldn't let Okita get away so easily as he grabbed her by her cloak and smashed her against a nearby building so hard the walls cracked and splintered!
@sumanai (edited)You can sense that this man is suffering from exhaustion levels.
You would sense that there were more now. They were coming from the water and flodding into town. You could sense also on the outskirts of the village there were many humans, but many of them were also going out, snuffed like a candlelight. But there was one that shone bright against the darkness, and you could guess who that was.
@sumanaiOn the rooftop you can see how all around the town it is alight. You can see how fires are starting all over the village and there are massive figures taller than the buildings masked by the smoke that massacre and butcher all in their way. Up the hill and slope from the shoreline to the village center you can see the suggestion of a large tree.
@Game Ping 1
But Okita's sharp eyes could see through the smoke that a direct and straightforward path would potentially intercept giants along the path.
@sumanaiAnd there were gaps in the houses that met with the street that Okita and Artoria could easily leap across but that Nagato might have some difficulty.
Leaping from burning rooftop to rooftop the four of you get closer and closer to the village center with the tree. You can now clearly see it. You land on a wide sloping rooftop with a straw roof. But the rooftop was thin and not built for a body as heavy as Nagato suddenly and violently landing on it.
Make a DC 17 dex save to avoid falling down.
@Game Ping 1Nagato would avoid falling and land on a edge expertly but Okita and Artoria would fold under the straw celling as it collapsed into a dwelling's sole room with beds and a table that Strauss had crushed as he had fallen, where he now lay groaning and complaining about his back. As the dust settled you could see that the fire pit in the middle had been hasty snuffed out.
You all heard a squeek and the pattering of footsteps and Okita could see they were not alone. A family of a mother and father with their three daughters were hiding in the corner of the room. The father had risen with a knife in his hand and was charging at Artoria in the dark, blade gimmering in the dark.
@Game Ping 1"Have at ye, you giant scum!" he screamed at the top of his lungs.
The man would gasp as his sword struck a figure... but not the one he was aiming for.
"Arminius stop!" the woman shouted. "They can speak! They're not giants."
"Gah!" the man let go of his sword. "And the rest of them, who are they?"
He pointed at the rest of Chaldea.
"You're not with the giants are you?" he asked, a silly question maybe, but he was on edge and his family was in danger. He wasn't taking any risk.
"Oh gods... they came so suddenly," the man dropped his longsword. "I was at the docks. And I saw them just rise out of water and took the warriors by suprise. I ran and ran here to my family but I can hear the screams outside. What's happening?"
"Just my family here but I know that the house opposite, the Drusus, they've got a son with them as well. I saw them hiding inside as well but they may have ran... but I didn't want to take that risk with giants in the streets." he said with a shaking voice, "Oh gods, what do we do now?"
"Do we stay in here?" the man asked with wide eyes.
"And then we run for the tunnel under the tree?"
"Understood. We'll go when you take them down."
Through the roof the others could hear the stamping of great pairs of feet outside.
The stomping outside stopped.
And then started to rapidly approach the house.
And grinning in front of him were quite a few giants and wolves that had slipped past the perimeter.
Let slip the dogs of war. The wolves came in and breathed ice and blood.
The flank had been left open and the wolves saught the weakest prey.
With a great and powerful blow Nagato would pierce the giants stone skin and slay him!
And the final giant would fall!
All around you could hear the sound of battle. Another battle won, but the war for the Cherusci still cotninued on!
The two parents with their three children follow along.
Mayfield running up the hill at a blistering pace would find in front of him was a broken wooden barricade that blocked off the street. But there were not giants, save for the corpses of two that had been fallen by dozens of spears. Cherusci dead and mutilated were strewn all over the barricade, broken and ripped apart in so many ways that seem impossible. There seemed now only to be two guards left of the many that had once defended this barricaded.
Running through the town forward the other three alongside Strauss and the family could see that through the buildings in the distance a new wave of giants was heading towards the town square, seeing that the first assualt seemed to have been barely repulsed.
@Game Ping 1 (edited)Nagato could spot that there were at more or less five giants in that group that was heading towards the square from the east. He couldn't see if they had wolves or anything.
@Thicc|Fie/Ali/Ayu/Miyu/Nag/Mel
The rest would follow close behind Mayfield by now.
@Game Ping 1Nagato could guess they maybe had a minute and a half before the new wave came in.
@Thicc|Fie/Ali/Ayu/Miyu/Nag/MelOver the barricade you would see the town square, a great oak tree with a tunnel underneath in its roots. Civilians were huddled around the entrance as they slowly filtered in. The buildings all around were burning or starting to burn. There were four main roads that led into the place, some barricades having nearly been broken or their defenders down to their last legs.
In their midst would be a familiar face. Two actually.
@Game Ping 1 (edited)The barricade to the East was badly broken and only two workable parts remained.
There was a loud roar that came down the street, shaking your bodies from the volume of it. You could see figures wreathed by smoke and fire slowly coming down.
The enemy was approaching.
The Cherusci men looked scared and pale and at the tree there was a murmur and even shouts of panic.
Would they hold?
Coming closer you would see exactly four giants. Two men of stone. One of ice that misted around its ankles. And a one of hair with a massive spear on its back. The final one seemed to be commanding the wolves with a combination of barks and snarls.
The giants would fall one by one by the fury of the defenders but as another wave started to approach... a dread chill fell over the entire battlefield. It wasn't a normal cold. It was a cold that gripped your heart and made it feel like it was stopping. Breath suddenly frosted and people began to shiver. It seemed like this strange sense was coming from the east...
And from the fires it came. But it was not a giant but a mere man that trod out of the flames from the east.
The counter-attack had begun. Rallying from all over the Cherusci troops following their figurehead Siegfried and their new commander Strauss flooded back into the town and slowly took it back. Street by street. Block my block. Building by buidling. They began to reclaim their homes and exact vengace.
